Superfly 100
This is possible because of a unique 51 mm offset fork which creates easier balance and steering control. The wheelbase of the Gary Fisher Superfly 100 Full Suspension Mountain Bike is engineered for stability at increased speeds.
This bikes design gives neutral handling at reduced speeds and allows the rider to shift weight to the front wheel more efficiently as the need arises. Altogether, the frame, rear shock, and hardware of the Fisher Superfly 100 Full Suspension Mountain Bike weigh only 2200 grams.
To accomplish this light weight, Fisher created a much lighter dual-molded shock mount made from OCLV carbon. This high strength material makes the frame durable without adding weight, which is perfect for a high quality racing machine.
Although most other bike makers use a longer wheelbase on bikes with 29 inch wheels, Fishers design of the Superfly 100 Full Suspension Bike shortens the chainstays and wheelbase. To achieve this, the seat tube is pushed forward to prevent interference with the rear wheel, and a direct-mount front derailleur is used to save 9 mm on the frame.
To keep the suspension lively as the brakes are applied, Fishers Superfly 100 Full Suspension Bikes are equipped with an active braking pivot (ABP) system. Because both rear pivots work together, ABP gives the rider the option to engage the brake at the last possible moment before rounding a curve, greatly enhancing performance while still allowing excellent control. The seconds saved by ABP can really add up over a long course.
The substantial E2 headtube of a Fisher Superfly 100 Full Suspension Bike is manufactured to give just the right amount of stiffness and support. Pedaling this bike is a breeze because, rather than the normal BB cups, the Superfly 100 has integrated these and added a large cross section of the downtube and bottom bracket to give added frame strength and easier transfer of power.
The Superfly 100 is great for riders less than five feet because the G2 fork offset allows less toe overlap. However, this bike is also available in an XXL size so that fit is never an issue. The Gary Fisher Superfly 100 Full Suspension Mountain Bike has an MSPP of around $5,500, which makes it an affordable option for avid mountain bikers looking for high speeds and unusually good stability.
