Specialized StumpJumper
These bikes excel on single trail back roads, with dramatic curves and a hilly terrain. The StumpJumpers full suspension offers a neutral geometry, balanced weight and steering precision that are well-suited for exciting mountain environments.
"Fun and adventure" are the goals of the StumpJumper rider who can easily propel this lightweight mountain bike into the air and around tight corners. The StumpJumper chassis and suspension were developed together, mirroring the requirements of intense Motocross racing, which demand that the rider maintain control of the bike over even the most brutal terrain. The resulting technology is the FutureShock Fork and Active Functional Response (AFR) shocks system for superior terrain damping.
Bike riders can rapidly adjust the Flow Control Brain shock damper for more firm or active rides, depending on their preferences. There is a slightly rising spring rate for optimal bump force management on rocky terrain.
Full suspension StumpJumper mountain bikes (with front and rear suspension) provide more comfort during riding, weigh a little bit more and require more complex maintenance regimes. They offer a superior riding experience, by smoothly responding to various terrains.
The StumpJumper front and rear brakes are Avid hydraulic discs, which perform well under many different road conditions (rain, snow and mud). These high quality brakes are easy to setup and bleed.
The standard StumpJumper saddle is the Specialized BG Rival with hollow Cro-Mo rails. This offers good weight distribution for a comfortable ride. The hollow seat tube was designed to be lightweight. As a result, the StumpJumper has a lower overall weight for its class. While the Rival is a durable saddle, the rails are a bit weak and prone to bending.
The Specialized StumpJumper full suspension uses high quality fittings and components: manipulated alloy frame with Transform monocoque TT, on-the-fly 3-position switch and Fox Float 120 RL Fork. The front derailleur is Shimano M581 LX; the rear derailleur is SRAM-X9 9-speed. The Stumpjumper has SRAM-X7 shift levers, a Truvativ Stylo 2 pc crank/BB crankset and Shimano M-520 SPD pedals. The StumpJumpers dominant handle bar position allows for easy front wheel control over bumps and dips.
The Specialized StumpJumper full suspension mountain bike has relaxed handling, good terrain damping and great geometry. It is a great starting point for mountain bike riders, which can be customized for more individualized needs. The Specialized StumpJumper full suspension is well-built and fun to ride, offering a versatile off-road riding experience.
