Titus FTM
Titus is known for their commitment to technology, and the Titus FTM
(Full Tilt Moto) Complete is no exception. For their well-loved Titus
Moto Lite, riders tend to leave the travel setting in the 5" mode
because it provides more cushion, handles great, and does not sacrifice
pedaling. With the FTM, the Titus goal was to make a dedicated 5" bike, maintaining the superior ride of the Moto Lite, while making it stronger and lighter.
Priced around $3,000, the Titus FTM Complete full suspension mountain bike is a great all-around bike, perfect for long cross-country rides and light downhills. It pedals well, it is super-light, and it is a fairly stiff 5" trail bike.
With the Horst link and the Fox RP23, the Titus can go from almost locked out to a super plush suspension. Its powder coat paint is very durable, and the Carbon Triangle provides good damping to the ride.
The Titus FTM has five inches of suspension travel for descents and full lock-out capability for climbing. Its head angle is a little slacker than a cross country racing bike, which adds stability when you need it. However, this is not a downhill only bike. The pivot bearing are over-sized and sealed to increase longevity. Its aluminum front triangle is designed for durability, while the carbon seat stay reduces its weight and dampens vibration. The FTM Complete is even lighter than the Moto Lite, weighing in at 27.7 pounds. The new rear swing arm, the newly designed Light Rail System, allows for greater tire clearance, with less mud build-up.
This FTM is an excellent cross-country rig. It offers predictable handling, doing everything you want while not offering any unpleasant surprises. The Titus FTM provides superior control whether you are in slow, technical situations or are at full speed.
There have been a few concerns that the rear carbon seat stays are not durable enough, and Titus is apparently fixing this problem. Another concern is that the cable routing goes through the swing link, causing the housing to rub against the seat tube and the link. Titus say they are also fixing this minor problem.
While Titus is best-known for combining outstanding designs with cutting-edge engineering, they are equally skilled at delivering their technology enhancements down through all price points. For example, the suspension technologies included on the highest-end bikes is the same as whats offered on the aluminum FTM. Titus provides outstanding ride quality to fit any budget.
