Yeti 575

Yeti 575The Yeti 575 full suspension mountain bike chassis offers 5.75 inches of travel, weighs less than 30 pounds, and its price is around $3,500, making it a good option for anyone seeking a long-travel trail bike. It is a tall bike, making the rider get on their toes when mounting, but it has a more compact feel than many tall bikes.

The steering input is light, and the frame follows the steering arc with precision. It offers brisk acceleration, and the rear does not wallow. The Yeti takes deep impacts with ease, making it easier to plow through difficult terrain. On flat terrain or slow speeds, the bike responds well to heavy weighing of the outside pedal with minimum torque on the handlebar.

The bike is very light for a long travel trail bike. The chassis is not cumbersome, but it is slightly top heavy since it does not carry its weight low like most comparable bikes.

The Yeti 575 rewards smooth style, while still allowing you to perform hardcore downhill riding. Its light frame allows faster uphill acceleration than the heavier rigs. Remaining plush on most terrain, it takes a really big hit to reach its maximum travel. It offers a stable ride and it responds efficiently under steady pedal power.

The rear triangle is made of carbon composite. The Yeti 575 includes a wrap-around sheath with a deflector plate to prevent chain slap from damaging the chain stay. It is easy to understand why Yeti owners are fiercely loyal to these bikes. Every model provides pure performance, practical design, and build quality.

The frame of the Yeti 575 is lighter than most bikes offering so much travel, so it is not designed for big drops. With its XT level components, it is a great choice for hard and fast trail riding. The tires are Maxis, and the bars are Raceface carbon.

The front end of the Yeti 575 does tend to float a little on steep climbs, but this can be compensated for by leaning into more. Its float 140 RLC and 15mm axle stiffens up the front end, and its an amazing fork. The 575s frame is well balanced, easily taking turns if you stay centered. The suspension is fully active, with no brake-jack on the single pivot design. It offers superb pedaling once you get used to the geometry of the bike.

This is an expensive bike for the weekend warrior, but it offers a smooth, enjoyable ride. The Yeti 575 is a terrific all-mountain trail bike. While not a free-ride or downhill bike, it provides a great all-around ride.
