Yeti ASR 7
The 2009 ASR 7 Yeti mountain bike, with its long travel, light weight carbon frame, provides exceptional versatility, quality and performance. The ASR 7 is as beautiful as it is strong. With an alloy swingarm and hydroformed tubes it has durability, and greater impact resistance. This bike is made to go and go, and has 7 inches of travel. Its substantial wheel base and tapered head tube make for a wider range of control and greater stability, especially on steep terrain. The XT brakes have 7 inch rotors, and a surprising amount of ability.
The ASR 7 has a 12mm custom rear thru-axle, and a double row main pivot bearing, like that of the 4X. The shocks on this model provide for an absolutely smooth ride, while not bottoming out. And though the bike feels big, with the RP23 on, there is very little suspension bob. The seat is also adjustable, and has a dedicated seat lowering cable routing tab.
Yeti chose to equip the ASR 7 with a traditional two sided alloy rear, also similar to the 4X. Though this is more conventional than the single sided chain stay that was introduced in a few earlier models, it is a mater of higher performance. The alloy composition–as apposed to carbon—makes this piece of equipment of the highest quality. However, the dogbone link is still carbon-fiber, which is the strongest, lightest way to manufacture that part. The ASR 7 custom mounting bracket, for the front derailleur, attaches to the chain stay and rotates for greater clearance. Additionally, the SLX front derailleur trims, so there is virtually no rub, in large to large combo shifts. And though, the ARS 7 does tend to climb heavier, with its 66.8 seat tube, and 67 head tube, the rear stays grounded during steep climbing.
